For starters you’ll need some crusty bread. I recommend you get friendly with your local baker. Farmer’s markets also feature artisan bread makers. Try using a nice sour dough or a hearty multi-grain bread. When I can’t get out for fresh bread I always have some Dave’s Killer Bread on hand.
If you’re gluten free, avocado toast may not be your jam although there are some decent options from Simple Mills you can make at home. Those of you living the #GFLIFE probably know more options than I could rattle off at the moment.
Make sure you’re using ripe avocados. They should be able to pass the squeeze test without putting your finger through it. I usually buy avocados 5 at a time to get me through the week and place them in the refrigerator once they ripen.
Don’t forget to mash your avocado separately before adding any additional ingredients. In case of emergency, add olive oil. It will help with the viscosity of your spread and impart some more flavor if you’re using a high quality extra virgin olive oil.

Easy Avocado Toast Ingredients
4 slices bread of choice
2 avocados, ripe
2 tsp salt, separated
1 tbsp lime juice
4 pastured eggs
1 tsp coconut oil
½ cup Big Lou’s Onion Sauce *Garlic*
1 tsp cracked pepper
Toast slices of bread. In a small bowl mash avocado, 1 tsp salt and lime juice. Add to each piece of bread. In a nonstick skillet, fry eggs in coconut oil. Add eggs to bread and top with onion sauce and cracked black pepper.
